This fine art print is produced from a digital copy of a custom Koi and Waterfall water color painting, created by Greg James. Of this painting he says,
"When I was learning how to create my style of Japanese Tattooing, I really fell in love with the images of the Koi. To me, I think the Koi tattoo symbolizes beauty, strength, and perseverance. In Japanese folklore, if the Koi is strong enough and has the tenacity and perseverance to travel up the yellow river, it says the Koi can become a Dragon. Before doing these water color paintings (Koi in Water, and Koi and Waterfall), I had only done sheets of tattoo designs called flash - so my paintings look more like a tattoo design rather than a painting. I chose a paper to print these reproductions on so they appear most like the original water coloring painting itself."
